چکیده
in the present study, the toxic effects on the embryos and larvae of the turbot were used as a model to investigate the diazinon, which contaminates aquatic ecosystems. the number of dead embryos significantly increased in response to diazinon concentrations 0.2, 0.4, 0.8, 1.6, 3.2, and 7.4 mg/l. the 48h lc50 value of diazinon for turbot embryos was estimated at 1.85 mg/l. dose–response decreases in hatching success were recorded as 97, 92.4, 80.3, 60.3, 38.7 and 27.1%, respectively. the number of dead larvae significantly increased with increasing diazinon concentrations exposed for 24–96 h (p < 0.05). the 24, 48, 72 and 96h lc50 values of diazinon for turbot larvae were estimated at 4.8 (6.4-5.12), 3.3 (4.73-2.52), 2.1 (3.29- 1.65) and 1.23 (0.87–2.38) mg/l, respectively. there were significant differences in the lc50 values obtained at different exposure times (p

متن کاملLethal and sublethal effects of polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDEs) for turbot (Psetta maxima) early life stage (ELS)
A new toxic menace, polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDEs), is being detected in the aquatic environment all over the world. The environmental presence of PBDEs and its entry into the environment as BDE-47 and -99 make quality aquatic toxicity data necessary to assess the aquatic hazard risk of PBDs. This study examines the effects of three PBDE-47 and -99 on embryo and larval stages of the mar...
متن کاملCryptosporidium sp. (Apicomplexa) from cultured turbot Psetta maxima
During a survey conducted in a fish farm located in NW Portugal Cryptosporidium sp. sporogonial stages were detected in bile ducts epithelial cells of turbot (Psetta maxima). Fibrosis surrounding the infected bile ducts and necrosis of adjacent hepatic cells were observed. *Corresponding author’s E-mail: [email protected] The turbot, Psetta maxima (Linnaeus, 1758) is a very important marine fis...
متن کاملCan turbot , Psetta maxima , be fed with self - feeders ?
The capability of turbots to use self-feeders was studied using 3 groups of 100 juveniles. Feeding activity reached a plateau after 20 days. Almost al1 feeding activity was observed during the photophase, and the acrophase was associated with dawn. The proportion of nocturnal demands was the highest in the replicate with the lowest feed efficiency, suggesting that feed waste was mainly occurnng...

متن کاملCryptic Behaviour of Juvenile Turbot Psetta maxima L. and European Flounder Platichthys flesus L
The aim of this study was to examine the burying behaviour of hatchery-reared European flounder Platichthys flesus and turbot Psetta maxima, and whether conditioning on a sandy substrate would improve burying efficiency. Both species buried shortly after release on a sandy substrate. However, the study revealed interspecies differences; the flounder buried immediately after release, while the t...
